The image of the Professional DJ has always been a stumbling block for operators who want to run their business successfully. The public will always have memories of poor quality tradesmen from all industries and the humble Mobile DJ can quite easily get stereotyped or categorised.
Purveying a sense of professionalism to customers can be very hit and miss. Some enquirers think that all DJs are the same and that the quality of service they receive is always going to be of the same standard.
It is for this very reason that service providers across the UK have been trying to reinforce the idea that not all tradesmen are the same. It would be great to have a charter mark or qualification that potential customers can use as a reference point to help them hire the right person for their needs.
The new South Wales Branch Committee of Justin Banwell, Paul Thompson, Brian Jones and myself (Mark Weller) have the bit between our teeth and are highly motivated to build up our branch meetings to make them the best in the UK!
After a Committee meeting in an Abergavenny hostelry two weeks ago, we have been beavering away to bring you the best content and educational material to make your time spent at the Wales Branch meetingworthwhile.
We have a content packed meeting lined up for you for you on Tuesday 13th April at The Student Union Facilities at the University of Wales Newport (Caerleon Campus). Please do try and arrive promptly because we kick off at 8.00pm and we will not hold things back for latecomers!
The South Wales branch of NADJ held its AGM on Tuesday 9th March 2010 at the University of Wales Campus at Caerleon and it was a successful night. The business of the Annual General Meeting was conducted swiftly before we moved on to other matters of interest. The new Committee for 2010 is as follows:
PRS for Music, which represents 65,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers in the UK, collecting and distributing royalties on their behalf, today announced a 2.6% rise in annual revenues to £623m.
Tougher trading conditions in the UK music market were offset by strong growth internationally and by the licensing of new online services:
For the past 10 months the NADJ has had to go though a serious period of consolidation. This may look like little has been going on behind the scenes, but this has definitely not been the case. Whoever is elected at the AGM will certainly have a firm foundation to build a better organisation.
The NADJ needs more members to get a louder and more prominent voice within the industry. The NADJ can only achieve that with the help of you – the membership.
